Key dates for business owners 2026.

The business calendar is unforgiving: Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency) sends no invoices, and Bolagsverket (the Swedish Companies Registration Office) sends no reminders in time. Here's the rhythm you need to keep track of — and why our clients don't have to keep it in their heads.

Every month

Around the 12thAGI (monthly employer declaration) and tax deductions if you have employees, plus F-skatt. In January and August: the 17th.
Payroll runIncluding holiday pay, benefits and deviations.
Monthly VATIf you file VAT returns monthly.

Every quarter

  • Quarterly VAT — filed on the 12th of the second month after the quarter (Q1 → 12 May, Q2 → 12 August, Q3 → 12 November, Q4 → 12 February).
  • EC Sales List (periodisk sammanställning) — if you sell to businesses within the EU.

The year's key milestones

  • January — income statements (kontrolluppgifter) and reconciliation of the previous year.
  • March — the common holiday-year changeover (1 April–31 March): holiday days must be reconciled.
  • 4 May — personal tax return, including NE-bilagan (the sole trader's tax return annex) for sole traders (enskild firma) and K10 (the owner's dividend form) for closely held company owners. File K10 even in years without a dividend — your saved dividend allowance (gränsbelopp) keeps growing.
  • June — annual general meeting for a limited company (AB) with a calendar financial year (must be held within six months of the end of the financial year).
  • July — the annual report must reach Bolagsverket no later than one month after the meeting — in practice by 31 July at the latest for calendar-year companies. Late filing costs from 7 500 kr.
  • December — your last chance for this year's tax planning: salary withdrawals for the 3:12 rules (Sweden's dividend rules for closely held companies), tax allocation reserve, investments. This can't be fixed after the fact.

If your AB has a non-calendar financial year, the year-end accounts chain shifts — the tax return deadline depends on when your year ends.

What does a missed deadline cost?

Late annual report: from 7 500 kr · Late VAT return: 625 kr + interest · Late AGI: 1 250 kr — plus a tax surcharge for errors, and a tired business owner patching together admin in the evenings.

Or: let someone else keep the calendar

This is literally our job. As a SeClaro client, every deadline is tracked — VAT, AGI, year-end accounts, K10 — and you get a reminder when we need something from you, well in advance. Book a free call and we'll take over the calendar.
